Equipped with the right applications, a computer can be of great help in virtually any domain of activity. When it comes to designing and precision, no other tool is as accurate as a computer. Moreover, specialized applications such as AutoCAD give you the possibility to design nearly anything ranging from art, to complex mechanical parts or even buildings.
Suitable for business environments and experienced users
After a decent amount of time spent installing the application on your system, you are ready to fire it up. Thanks to the office suite like interface, all of its features are cleverly organized in categories. At a first look, it looks easy enough to use, but the abundance of features it comes equipped with leaves room for second thoughts.
Create 2D and 3D objects
You can make use of basic geometrical shapes to define your objects, as well as draw custom ones. Needless to say that you can take advantage of a multitude of tools that aim to enhance precision. A grid can be enabled so that you can easily snap elements, as well as adding anchor points to fully customize shapes.
With a little imagination and patience on your behalf, nearly anything can be achieved. Available tools allow you to create 3D objects from scratch and have them fully enhanced with high-quality textures. A powerful navigation pane is put at your disposal so that you can carefully position the camera to get a clearer view of the area of interest.
Various export possibilities
Similar to a modern web browser, each project is displayed in its own tab. This comes in handy, especially for comparison views. Moreover, layouts and layers also play important roles, as it makes objects handling a little easier.
Sine the application is not the easiest to carry around, requiring a slightly sophisticated machine to properly run, there are several export options put at your disposal so that the projects itself can be moved around.
Aside from the application specific format, you can save as an image file of multiple types, PDF, FBX and a few more. Additionally, it can be sent via email, directly printed out on a sheet of paper, or even sent to a 3D printing service, if available.
To end with
All in all, AutoCAD remains one of the top applications used by professionals to achieve great precision with projects of nearly any type. It encourages usage with incredible offers for student licenses so you get acquainted with its abundance of features early on. A lot can be said about what it can and can't do, but the true surprise lies in discovering it step-by-step.

What is AutoCAD?
AutoCAD is a computer-aided design (CAD) program that offers a range of features for 2D and 3D drafting, visualization, and 2D and 3D modeling of architectural and engineering drawings, as well as related technical illustrations. Designed primarily for architectural, engineering, and construction professionals, AutoCAD is commonly used for documenting and creating drawings, models, and animations for architectural and engineering projects. It was one of the first widely used CAD programs for architectural and engineering applications, and as of 2019 AutoCAD remains the most widely used commercial CAD program for architecture and engineering professionals worldwide.

History and Functionality
AutoCAD has been a worldwide commercial success since its initial release in 1982, and the software remains the most widely used CAD program for architecture and engineering professionals worldwide. Originally developed and marketed for use with the Apple II+ and in 1987 on the Macintosh, AutoCAD debuted for the Apple IIc, and was later made available for many other Apple II computers. The debut of AutoCAD was not without incident, however, as the first version did not run at the advertised speed, and some users had trouble getting it to run at all. AutoCAD 2.0 was released in June 1983 and improved the overall user experience.
AutoCAD 2.5.0 was the first version to support the Apple IIc. The first version of AutoCAD for the Macintosh was AutoCAD 1.0 in 1985. Versions of AutoCAD for DOS and DOS-based computer systems quickly followed, and by 1990 it had become the standard CAD tool for designers at big architecture and engineering firms and their suppliers.
In 1994, AutoCAD evolved beyond the level of being merely a drawing application and expanded into a model-making, prototyping, and visualization program for architectural and engineering professionals, primarily CAD workers who were responsible for the documentation and creation of architectural and engineering drawings. AutoCAD continues to evolve, and new functionality has been added over the years to meet the needs of the CAD marketplace, including the creation and manipulation of 3D models.
AutoCAD’s 2D and 3D drafting tools have continued to evolve in recent years, expanding to include the use of AutoCAD markup language (AML) commands. AutoCAD 2014 was the first

The AutoCAD ObjectARX classes allow a user to access and modify drawing data within a model. The classes are divided into 3 categories:
AutoCAD Objects – holds properties and methods that affect drawing objects and workbenches
AutoCAD Interface Objects – properties and methods of the user interface
AutoCAD Security Objects – tools to authenticate and authorize access to drawings and other data
AutoCAD objects are not the same as objects within the model, the former are made available for direct manipulation by an application such as an add-on. By using objects, the user can perform such functions as drawing, applying linetypes, and perform other drawing operations using commands.
The different categories of objects are not all limited to AutoCAD only. Some of them are shared with other programs such as Microsoft Excel. For example, an Excel spreadsheet can use the functions contained in the AutoCAD Objects category.
AutoCAD objects are organized by packages. A package may contain a single type of object or may contain objects of several types. For example, the Package “Graphical Elements” contains 3 objects: “Dashboard”, “Graph”, and “Text”. The package “Graphical Elements” is one of the 18 packages contained in the “Graphical Elements” package.
To support the use of objects within AutoCAD, the ObjectARX library provides a namespace that is the equivalent of a Windows’ class structure. The objects are exposed within the AutoCAD module, and work in exactly the same way as classes in any other programming language. The ObjectARX namespace is organized as a stack of classes. A class cannot be added to or removed from the namespace as this would have the effect of deleting the class definition and making it inaccessible to AutoCAD. Instead, classes are added to the namespace using the AddObjectClass() and RemoveObjectClass() functions. These can be applied to all packages in a package set.
ObjectARX properties are unique per class. There is no class hierarchy as with C#, and there is no inheritance as with Java.
ObjectARX can be used to retrieve, and manipulate data in an AutoCAD drawing. See Autodesk Exchange Apps for a listing of AutoCAD plugins.
Examples of ObjectARX classes and properties
This class defines a change to be made to a drawing element. The class describes the element to be changed and the new properties to apply.

Police have received “tens of thousands of tips” in the wake of the fatal shooting of teenager Jordan Edwards by a white officer in Texas.
The US state of Texas has reopened its investigation into the killing of Jordan Edwards after police received “tens of thousands of tips” following the shooting of the black teenager by a white police officer on Tuesday.
In a statement, Harris County Sheriff Ron Hickman said police “are committed to receiving and reviewing all tips related to the Jordan Edwards shooting, and following up on every lead”.
The sheriff said the evidence “strongly suggests that Edwards was unarmed” at the time of his death, but authorities have been unable to find an official report on the officer’s decision to open fire.
“We are continuing to review all evidence and conduct a thorough and complete investigation,” he added.
Police were called to the scene in the Houston suburb of Klein just after midnight after reports of a disturbance at the house where Edwards was shot.
An unverified video of the incident appears to show the officer repeatedly yelling “gun” at the teenager before opening fire.
The 17-year-old high school student was pronounced dead shortly after the shooting.
The deputy involved was placed on administrative leave.
In a separate development, the US attorney general said on Tuesday that a white police officer who shot an unarmed black teenager in July in Ferguson, Missouri, would not face federal charges for “objectively reasonable” use of force.
“After reviewing the facts and circumstances of this case, including the thorough, independent investigation conducted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, and based on the evidence collected to date, I have determined that the officer’s conduct was not a violation of federal law,” Loretta Lynch said in a statement.
“I have reached this determination with great reluctance,” she said, “but my responsibility is to faithfully apply the law and to ensure that no one is allowed to violate any citizens’ civil rights with impunity.”
