    This game is a next-generation platformer, a mix of retro 8 bit and side scroller games. The game mixes the precision platforming of 8 bit titles with the new and unique gameplay mechanic of the Schrödinger’s cat in a 2D side-scrolling game.
    The game takes place on the quantum space where Mr. Mustaches gets lost and the player has to free him using the “alive” state.       The Killer Ricky! was a spooktacular toymachine made and marketed by Kenner Toys in the late 1960s.

      The concept of such a toymachine is terribly simple. Something like a very small rubber band gun that, with the flick of a finger, could blast plastic rings out of a toy robot. Except instead of a rubber band, the motion would be covered by the toy robot’s own motor, spun off the top of the toymachine, which would be built and created by Kenner, and packaged in a tiny card box.

      Contrary to all the other toy “toppy” gimmicks of the mid-’60s, the Killer Ricky was seen as a decent but overlooked toy that offered a lot of value for a relatively small price (and one which, with a little imagination, could turn out some pretty fancy clothes).

      The toymachine was launched shortly after the release of the 1968 film “Planet of the Apes”, gaining kits in November of that year and appearing in an initial run of 300,000 per month after that. However, the toymachine never made up even a fraction of that total (The total number of kits sold ran into the many millions, though) and its marketing was very, very underwhelming.

      The toymachine was marketed primarily by Kenner as a “Laser Mark-Off” sold for $18.95. Like other toymachines, it sold a million or so of the hand-held mechanisms to consumers; however, in order to make them go into the larger Killer Ricky box, Kenner slapped them all with Target label paper packaging. Because the “laser” gimmick was so obvious, the box didn’t have much appeal to kids and the only way to play the “laser” was to set the toymachine down on the floor and then flick your fingers to spin the killer up into the air.

      Thanks to its parent company being a toy company, it turned out the “laser” feature was just too cool to pass up when the toymachine sold. Earlier gift-ware of sci-fi, fantasy, and kids movies had used the same gimmick, and the Killer Ricky was only the next step in that direction, so it sold well.

      Kenner’s marketing team had little time, little money, and even less faith in this toy, so instead of spending money on the original marketing approach, they instead decided to kid
